A Confession, and Neat Baby News

I know I haven't been posting much lately, and I feel really bad about that - doubly bad because Brian and Cathie are on vacation and I promised lots of updates so they wouldn't get baby withdrawal. The reason is, I've been having some technical issues with the camera. As in, technically, I dropped it :-(. I was trying to get a video of Jackson while holding him (stupid, I know, hindsight is 20/20), he did a huge flail and the camera went flying. I'll spare you the gory CSI: Camera Stupidity Investigation details, but suffice it to say it is a very dead camera. And no, pretty sure I can't get a new one on warranty because 1) it was purchased in the US and apparently that voids any warranty it might have and 2) I dropped it and it's pretty obvious that I dropped it. And it would cost about as much to fix as to just go buy a new camera.

I can't tell you how devastated I was when I picked that camera up off the floor. I loved that camera, and it was a gift. I feel so so sooooo bad. I thought about going out and buying the exact same camera, so nobody would ever know, but the car needs brakes (and anyways, we're supposed to be saving up to buy a house), so maybe some time in the future. But I do still have the old camera, and as long as I remember to take the batteries out of it after I use it (it sucks batteries when it's turned off somehow, so any batteries you put in last for 3 days, whether you take 100 pictures or 1 picture, and if they're cheap batteries the camera won't even turn on) then it should work and I can get this show back on the road.

Which would be a good thing, because I have a few things I'd like to get on video, or capture with a picture. I'll tell you about one now, since it's pretty unlikely I'll get a picture of it anyhow, since that would be pretty tricky and awkward (and I might break my other camera, stupid stupid stupid), but anyway, the news is:

Dun da da DAAAAA

Jackson has a tooth! A real one! A proper, pokey-sharp baby tooth on the bottom of his mouth!Yaaaaaaay! It finally broke through yesterday. He's working on 3 more right now, so he has some uncomfortable times, but he's got some teethers to help with the pain, and these nifty things I found at London Drugs:

They're super strong mesh pockets with nice big baby-friendly handles. You can put cold food in there (frozen banana or apple pieces, refrigerated carrots) and baby can chew on it, but can't choke because the food turns into mush on its way through the mesh. How do I know the mesh is super strong, you ask? Well, Jackson didn't finish one the other night and I forgot about it and left it downstairs with some apple in it, and the next morning it was on the floor with the apple gone, but the mesh intact, still closed. Ben had a little midnight snack. Don't worry, I washed it really really well after that.

So, if all goes according to plan things should be back up and running on here in a couple of days (tomorrow is going to be pretty busy, after Shawn gets home I'm going to go check out an all female choir and see if I want to join), but, barring any other complications (I should have checked my old camera before writing this post), there WILL be baby pictures within a couple of days. So hang tight :D
